A Season's Greeting

I love being able to say Merry Christmas to people. Maybe it is because you can't say it any other time of the year, but there is something very special about wishing someone a Merry Christmas. For one time of the year, for a moment in life, we can stop and say Merry Christmas, and for that second, share the Christmas spirit. Sometimes, there is more yuletide feeling in that simple phrase than in any presents, cookies or songs. When someone says Merry Christmas to me, it reminds me that this really is Christmas time, life is great, and no matter what presents you get, what you do, how much snow falls, or who you see this season, you can have a Merry Christmas if you want to.

So I sincerely wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

A Donny Osmond Christmas

Below are some lyrics from my favorite Christmas album of all time:
Christmas at Home by Donny Osmond

"It happens each time December draws near,
A child is reborn this time of year when I,
Start wrapping the presents and hanging the lights!
Start making a list and checking it twice!
Start hanging the holly and the mistletoe!
And off I go! Back to what I used to be.
Its funny how Christmas brings out the kid me!"
- The Kid in Me

"Some are born to greatness, some are born to fall.
Some are bound to be forgotten, like they never lived at all.
We're all born to know Him and stand before His light
Like the soldier who found his King tonight."
- The Soldier's King

"I've been looking for Christmas on the streets, on the faces passing by,
I've been searching for Christmas, and its right there in your eyes."
- I've Been Looking For Christmas

"Far beyond December, I will remember.
After the carols fade away, after the Yule fire dies down,
There are no longer dreams to open and see.
Because you are hope, joy and peace, because you are the only gift I need,
My heart the season will remember, after December slips away."
- After December Slips Away

"In our darkest of hours, wherever we are,
The shadows are parted, by the light from His star.
From all men and women, there rises a song,
A Savior is born! The age has begun when the meek and the mighty are one!
When we all, to the manger come."
-Come to the Manger

Amen to them!

Wow!

Here is a line from one of my new favorite Christmas songs by Coldplay.

"Like some drunkard Elvis singing
I go singing out of tune
Saying how I always loved you, darling
And I always will."

I was thinking today that this applies, in a weird way, to so many things in our life. There is so much greatness out there! With music, and friends, and thoughts, and activities, and Christmas, and the gospel, and love and everything else, we are saturated with greatness. And yet, I feel that when I try to thank my Heavenly Father for these gifts, or try to express to others how grateful I am for their influence on my life, I am afraid I sound like "some drunkard Elvis."

I won't stop singing and thanking those responsible for my wonderful life, but it may sound out of tune or I might forget the words. Nevertheless, I want the world to know that I am grateful for the life I lead, the friends I have, the family I love, and the things I know. I'll never stop "saying how I always loved you, darling and I always will!"

Its a Great Time of Year

Life is funny. Sometimes, you are just going through your day, nothing out of the ordinary, and then, out of the blue (or grey, depending on the sky at the time) something hits you and makes you feel happier than you've felt all day. It's only for a moment and it's over before you really know why, but whether it be a sunset, a song, or a smile, that's what makes my days extraordinary. The little extra moments.

Have a great day!

Thank You

Happy Thanksgiving!

Music that is fun and true, cheese pizza from Papa Johns, friendship and good times with friends, Indiana Jones, the tender mercies that make the day better, naps, piano playing, heat from the cold outside, snow on the ground, cells that keep us alive, peace in our community, and another day coming tomorrow.

Whatever it be, there is something for which to give thanks.

Have a great day and a wonderful Thanksgiving!

It was a beautiful autumn day today! The wind blew, the leaves fell, the sun shone, and it felt great. I am grateful for Nature's beauty and for Heavenly Father's wonderful world that we get to live in!

The Sweet Dream of Dulcinea

"I have dreamed thee too long,
never seen thee or touched thee,
but known thee with all of my heart.
Half a prayer, half a song,
thou hast always been with me,
though we have been always apart.

Dulcinea! Dulcinea! I see heaven when I see thee, Dulcinea!
And thy name is like a prayer an angel whispers, Dulcinea, Dulcinea!

If I reach out to thee,
do not tremble and shrink
from the touch of my hand on thy head,
Let my fingers but see
thou art warm and alive
And no phantom to fade in the air.

Dulcinea! Dulcinea! I have sought thee, sung thee, dreamed thee, Dulcinea!
Now I've found thee and the World shall know thy glory, Dulcinea, Dulcinea!"

This is one of my favorite love songs, although I prefer listening to it; the melody really captures the feeling of the song. The dream of one's true love is one that I think gives us all hope and comfort. I think we can find Dulcinea in anyone, as illustrated in the story of Don Quixote. We can and will find our true love, if we look and live for it.

Here's to the Future!

Hey! Here's my blog! I am not going to be using this like a journal or a diary or anything; I just wanted a way to share positive messages and stories that I come across. I feel like the world could use a little cheering up and I hope to do just that with this blog. Here's to the future and the discoveries we'll make! Have a great day!
